Jeff Grady – Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator
This will be Coach Grady’s 2nd year as the Head Football Coach at Edison High School. Prior to returning to his alma mater, Coach Grady spent 5 years at Santa Margarita, where he is credited with coaching Quarterbacks, Wide Receivers, Offensive Linemen, and Corners/Safeties. Prior to this tenure at SM, Coach Grady served his college alma mater, California State University, Fresno (CSUF), as a football coach for seven years. He held the position of graduate assistant (2005-2006), Tight Ends coach (2007-2008), and Offensive Coordinator/QB’s Coach (2009- 2011). During his time with Fresno State, Coach Grady coached players who have moved on to play for the National Football League (NFL) including Ryan Mathews of the Philadelphia Eagles and Derek Carr of the Oakland Raiders. He has both his Bachelor’s in Economics with a minor in History as well as Master’s Degrees in Kinesiology: Sport Psychology and Education. He and his wife, Breanne, reside in Huntington Beach with their two young children


Mike Walters: Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers
Coach Walters began coaching high school football in 1999 at his alma mater, Marina High School. He came to Edison High School in 2006 and enters his 12th season as an assistant coach for the Chargers. Coach Walters has been a part of the Chargers coaching staff for 8 Sunset League titles and 2 C.I.F. Southern Section championships. He has been fortunate enough to be a position coach of 4 All-Orange County and 5 All-C.I.F. linebackers during the 8 seasons he’s spent working with varsity linebackers. He teaches Advanced Placement U.S. History as well as U.S. History and U.S. Government here at Edison. He resides in Huntington Beach with his wife, Nicole and their 2 sons Mikey and Dylan.



Gregg Campbell: Tight Ends/Running Backs
Coach Campbell has coached at Edison since the 2006 season. He also served as the head coach of the Bron-Villeurbanne Falcons in Lyon, France in the spring of 2014. Coach Campbell is a graduate of Troy University (Alabama) with a Bachelors of Science in Social Sciences. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment. Gregg enjoys his three children, Bryce (Edison Class of 2012), Brenna and PJ.




Al Granado: Defensive Line
Al is entering his 15th year in the Edison Charger football program. Al Played football for St. Paul High School in the late 70’s when they were nationally ranked then Long Beach City College where he was an All-Metro Conference player and eventually playing and graduating from Humboldt State University. Al is also an accomplished Professional and Division 1 Football Official. He is currently active in the Arena Football League. Al has worked numerous BCS Bowl games as well as championship games on all levels, which include the Pac-12, Big West, WAC, MWC, AFL, UFL, XFL and NFL Europe. Al’s son Dominic, who is an Edison Charger alumnus, attended Cal Berkeley University on a football scholarship and graduated this past year with a degree in Legal Studies



Ed Hwang: Offensive Line Coach
Coach Hwang began playing tackle football in middle school. He played offensive line at Los Amigos High from 1989 to 1993 where he was expertly instructed in the dark arts of blocking. Coach Hwang continued his playing career at Golden West College and then went on to play at Montana State University, Bozeman, home of the Fighting Bobcats. This is where his days as a player abruptly came to an unceremonious conclusion. Coach Hwang is married to his understanding and infinitely patient wife, Jen and together they are parents to a very enthusiastic little boy, Kyle. When Coach Hwang is not coaching or being a productive member of society, he surfs and finds tremendous peace and serenity under the Zen inducing spell of fly fishing.



Matt Koffler: Wide Receivers
Coach Koffler has been coaching for 19 years. He was the head varsity football coach for 12 years at Rosemead High School in the San Gabriel Valley. Prior to that, he was the offensive coordinator at the same high school . In 2001, he was awarded Coach of the Year by the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. Coach Koffler played quarterback at USC. He holds the longest touchdown pass in USC history. He was also a part of the 1996 Rose Bowl team. He has been married for 18 years to his wife Karen. They have 2 sons, Cole, 15 and Chase, 12. This is Coach Koffler’s second year coaching at Edison.



Larry Grady: Defensive Ends
Larry was a student athlete at Westminster H.S., Golden West College, and continued his football career at California Berkeley where he was part of a Pac-8 championship team. He has had the pleasure of coaching and watching his 3 kids participate in numerous sports at Edison and in college. Larry and his wife Chris live in HB





Frank Seurer Jr.: Secondary
Frank grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. He went to high school and played football at Olathe South High School in Olathe, Kansas. Following high school, Frank played one season at Hutchinson Community College and three years at the University of Kansas. After college, Frank played one year of arena football for the Kansas City Phantoms. Last year, Frank coached wide receivers at Olathe West High School and called the offense for the freshman team.




George Greenwalt – Wide Receivers/Defensive Backs
Coach Greenwalt begins his first coaching at Edison High School. George graduated from Newport Harbor High School in 1991 and earned his Bachelor’s degree at Long Beach State University. He has previously coached High school football at Costa Mesa high for 4 years and spent the last 16 at Newport Harbor. He has been teaching history at Back Bay High School for 15 years and lives in Costa Mesa with his wife Jennifer and three sons, Gavin, Dylan and Logan. George is very excited for the opportunity to coach at a school with such a rich football tradition..



Braydon Wilson: Defensive Ends
Coach Wilson is an Edison alumni and graduated in 2015. He is currently in his 4th year on the coaching staff and will be coaching the defensive ends. As a player at Edison, Braydon played defensive end and fullback. He is currently a attending Orange Coast College and is majoring in engineering.





Dave Yonts: Kickers
Coach Dave Yonts returns for his 11th year as a coach for Edison High School. Coach Yonts attended Edison High from 1994 to 1998. He played football, soccer and baseball. After graduation, Dave kicked at Orange Coast College and Bethany College in Kansas, where he earned his Bachelors degree in History. He is currently teaching Special Education at Edison High School. Dave enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife Brittany, his amazing son Dylan, and his family and friends




Fred Marquez: Secondary
Coach Marquez has more than 50 years experience coaching football, track and gymnastics at San Gabriel, Westminster and Edison High Schools. He has a daughter, Stacy who has given him three grandchildren, Parker, Spencer and Remington. His son Grady and his wife Cassie (Price) are both Edison Alumni and they have two children, Cooper and Grayson. Coach Marquez loves to travel (Hawaii) and lives in Huntington Beach.




Jimmy Flanagan – Defensive Backs
This is coach Flanagan’s fourth year coaching football at Edison High School. Jimmy played Wide Receiver and Free Safety at Edison from 2002-2005 and received First Team All–CIF and All-Sunset League selections. Jimmy went on to play at Saddleback College and the University of Hawaii. Jimmy currently is a youth pastor at Seaside Community Church and also coaches Track & Field at Edison.




Marcus Trujillo: Kickers
Coach Trujillo is returning for his third year as a kicking/punting coach. He graduated Edison High School in 2010 and was a member of the 2009 CIF PAC 5 finalist team, kicking under the tutelage of Dave Yonts. That year he earned First Team All-CIF, All-Sunset League, and Kicker of the Year honors. He earned his Bachelors in Psychology at Chapman University where he continued to play football and was a three time All-conference punter and kicker. Markus graduated with his Masters in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University and plans to pursue his doctorate degree with a research focus in families of children with developmental and learning disadvantages.



Sam Allen – Equipment Manager
Sam is a proud local of HB for the past 45 years. He and his wife Vanessa have two sons; Trey (18) who graduated from Edison this year, and Seth (14) is an incoming freshman. Sam owns and operates a local produce business. He believes the positive influence of youth sport programs to be essential to the growth of our kids. The lessons learned throughout the process provides a formula which can be applied to every part of life. Sam has been involved with many youth sports but has a special admiration for football. He served on the board at Pop Warner, and when asked to join the Charger staff, he gratefully accepted. Sam is proud to be a part of the Edison Chargers organization.
