Joe Reza – Head Coach
Coach Reza is a Cal State Long Beach Grad. & has coaches multiple high school sport for 40 Yrs. he is now a retired high school teacher of 35 years. He has been married 30 years to his wife Eileen (also a retired high school teacher / coach) and they have three children, Matthew, Edison Class of 2009, and Cal Poly SLO class of 2014, Megan, Edison class of 2011 and U.C. Riverside class of 2016 and Sharky, Edison class of 2015, Cal Poly SLO class of 2019. Coach Reza enjoys working with high school students. He says it keeps him young(or makes him old fast!). Coach Reza considers himself to be a very lucky dog to work with all the great Edison facility / staff, parents, fans, boosters, Varsity, JV football staff (special thanks to Coach Zoran Forgiarini for his guidance ) and the entire freshman football staff. Coach Reza also enjoys being outdoors, traveling, hanging with his family, and eating killer Mexican food. He is extremely proud of his 3 kids & wishing them the best.

Hector Martinez – Offensive Coordinator
Coach Martinez brings over 25 years of coaching experience to his alma mater. He has been involved in the Edison Program for 40 Years and a graduate of the class of 85’. Coach Martinez currently coaches with our varsity team and the offensive coordinator for our freshman team. Coach Martinez and his wife of 31 years, Diana, have 3 kids all who have graduated from Edison – Chris who is currently head coach at Cantwell Sacred Heart, Chelsea who graduated from Long Beach State, and youngest Charissa who is in her 1st year of college. Coach Martinez’s hobbies are FOOTBALL! He is also involved in our community with local Pop Warner teams which won Western Division Championship this past year and trains with athletes throughout the off season with his So Cal Elite Program.



Paul Oates –
This will be Coach Oates fifth year coaching Freshman Football at Edison High School. He is a Local Real Estate Agent and has been a resident of the Great HB for almost 20 years raising 3 amazing kids who graduated from Edison High School. Paul was the Quarterback for his Alma Mater, Bishop Alemany High School, in Mission Hills, CA. He was All CIF and Co-MVP his senior year. Paul was also selected to play in the Shriners Hospital All Star Football Game in 1983. He finished his Football career as the starting quarterback for Cal State Long Beach in 1989. Paul’s love for life is giving back to the community and that’s why he coaches at Edison. His love is for the kids of the community.
Fun fact about Coach Oates: He got drafted by the Saint Louis Cardinals Minor League Baseball Team immediately after graduating High School and spent 3 years as a lefty pitcher there.



Brad DeSoto – Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers
Coach DeSoto played linebacker at Westmoor High School in the San Francisco Bay Area. From there he earned his Bachelors of Science at the University of San Francisco and his MBA at Kellogg Graduate School at Northwestern University. He is a huge proponent of taking the lessons taught through football and having the kids apply those teachings to school, home life and beyond. Brad starting coaching high school football in 2005. He previously coached at Mater Dei, Newport Harbor, Estancia and Costa Mesa High Schools. Coach DeSoto has worked with both Varsity and Freshman teams. Brad lives in Newport Beach with his wife Laura and their two sons, Chris and Alex.



Chris Kluwe –
Chris Kluwe is a former Los Al Griffin, UCLA Bruin, and Minnesota Viking who now spends his time writing books, taking care of his two daughters (Olivia and Remy), and trying to keep the family dogs from eating the house. He and his wife Isabel live in Huntington Beach, where Chris coaches special teams for the Edison Chargers.



Adam Wright – Offense and Defensive Line
Line coach for both offense and defensive line. Coach Wright has been active in football for nearly 30 years, playing defensive line for Irvine high School, Orange Coast College, and Humboldt State University for the first 8 years, and as a coach for 22. He lives here in Huntington Beach with his wife Karyn and two growing sons.
