Jeff Grady – Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator
At Santa Margarita, Coach Grady is credited with coaching Quarterbacks, Wide Receivers,Offensive Linemen, and Corners/Safeties. Prior to this tenure, Coach Grady served his college alma mater, California State University, Fresno (CSUF), as a football coach for six years. He held the position of graduate assistant, tight end assistant coach, and quarterback coordinator.During his time with Fresno, Coach Grady coached players who have moved on to play for the National Football League (NFL) including Ryan Mathews of the Philadelphia Eagles and Derek Carr of the Oakland Raiders. Off the field, Coach Grady worked at SMCHS as an Assistant Athletic Director and an Auxiliary Studies Program and Learning Strategies teacher. He has both his Bachelor’s in Economics with a minor in History and his Master’s in Kinesiology. Sport Psychology from California State University, Fresno. He and his wife, Breanne, reside in Huntington Beach with their two young children

 

RICK JUSTICE Defensive Coordinator/Receivers
Coach Justice, an Edison High School graduate, attended Edison from 1982 to 1986. Rick was part of the 1985 CIF Championship Team and was named Sunset League Player of the Year. He went on to be an All Conference Receiver at Weber State University where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. Rick is starting his 14th year as a P.E. teacher and his 9th as the P.E. Department Coordinator. In his 11th year as the Defensive Coordinator, Rick continues a long tradition of pride for the Edison Defense. Standing tall, running the ball and out-hitting our opponents is what he preaches. Rick’s beautiful wife Orsi is an administrator at Rancho Alamitos High School. They live in Fountain Valley with their very fun ten-year-old boy named William.

 

 

Mike Walters – Linebackers/Running Backs
Coach Walters begins his 11th season coaching at Edison High School. Mike graduated from Marina High School in 1995 and earned his Bachelor’s degree at Long Beach State University. He has been teaching history at Edison for ten years and lives in Huntington Beach with his wife Nicole and two sons, Mikey and Dylan.

 

 

 

 

Greg Campbell – Offensive Line
Coach Campbell has coached at Edison since the 2006 season. He also served as the head coach of the Bron-Villeurbanne Falcons in Lyon, France in the spring of 2014. Coach Campbell is a graduate of Troy University (Alabama) with a Bachelors of Science in Social Sciences. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment. Gregg enjoys his three children, Bryce (Edison Class of 2012), Brenna and PJ.

 

 

 

Al Granado – Offensive/Defensive Line
Al is entering his 14th year in the Edison Charger football program. Al Played football for St. Paul High School in the late 70’s when they were nationally ranked then Long Beach City College where he was an All-Metro Conference player and eventually playing and graduating from Humboldt State University. Al is also an accomplished Professional and Division 1 Football Official. He is currently active in the Arena Football League. Al has worked numerous BCS Bowl games as well as championship games on all levels, which include the Pac-12, Big West, WAC, MWC, AFL, UFL, XFL and NFL Europe. Al’s son Dominic, who is an Edison Charger alumnus, attended Cal Berkeley University on a football scholarship and graduated this past year with a degree in Legal Studies.

 

Matt Koffler – Varsity Receivers
Coach Koffler has been coaching for 19 years. He was the head varsity football coach for 12 years at Rosemead High School in the San Gabriel Valley. Prior to that, he was the offensive coordinator at the same high school . In 2001, he was awarded Coach of the Year by the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. Coach Koffler played quarterback at USC. He holds the longest touchdown pass in USC history. He was also a part of the 1996 Rose Bowl team. He has been married for 18 years to his wife Karen. They have 2 sons, Cole, 15 and Chase, 12. This is Coach Koffler’s second year coaching at Edison.

 

 

Dave Yonts – Kicking Coach
Coach Dave Yonts returns for his 10th year as a coach for Edison High School. Coach Yonts attended Edison High from 1994 to 1998. He played football, soccer and baseball. After graduation, Dave kicked at Orange Coast College and Bethany College in Kansas, where he earned his Bachelors degree in History. He is currently teaching Special Education at Edison High School. Dave enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife Brittany, his amazing son Dylan, and his family and friends.

 

 

Freddie Marquez – Defensive Backs
Coach Marquez has more than 50 years experience coaching football, track and gymnastics at San Gabriel, Westminster and Edison High Schools. He has a daughter, Stacy who has given him three grandchildren, Parker, Spencer and Remington. His son Grady and his wife Cassie (Price) are both Edison Alumni and they have two children, Cooper and Grayson. Coach Marquez loves to travel (Hawaii) and lives in Huntington Beach.

 

Jimmy Flanagan – Defensive Backs
This is coach Flanagan’s fourth year coaching football at Edison High School. Jimmy played Wide Receiver and Free Safety at Edison from 2002-2005 and received First Team All–CIF and All-Sunset League selections. Jimmy went on to play at Saddleback College and the University of Hawaii. Jimmy currently is a youth pastor at Seaside Community Church and also coaches Track & Field at Edison.

 

 

 

Marcus Trujillo – Kickers
Coach Trujillo is returning for his third year as a kicking/punting coach. He graduated Edison High School in 2010 and was a member of the 2009 CIF PAC 5 finalist team, kicking under the tutelage of Dave Yonts. That year he earned First Team All-CIF, All-Sunset League, and Kicker of the Year honors. He earned his Bachelors in Psychology at Chapman University where he continued to play football and was a three time All-conference punter and kicker. Markus graduated with his Masters in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University and plans to pursue his doctorate degree with a research focus in families of children with developmental and learning disadvantages.

 

 

Sam Allen – Equipment Manager
Sam is a proud local of HB for the past 45 years. He and his wife Vanessa have two sons; Trey (18) who graduated from Edison this year, and Seth (14) is an incoming freshman. Sam owns and operates a local produce business. He believes the positive influence of youth sport programs to be essential to the growth of our kids. The lessons learned throughout the process provides a formula which can be applied to every part of life. Sam has been involved with many youth sports but has a special admiration for football. He served on the board at Pop Warner, and when asked to join the Charger staff, he gratefully accepted. Sam is proud to be a part of the Edison Chargers organization.
