Freshman Head Coach
Coach Forgiarini begins his 22nd season as an Edison Football Coach. Coach Forgiarini was a varsity assistant for eight seasons before joining the freshman squad. Coach played on the 1985 CIF Championship Team and finished his senior year on the 1986 team. Zoran is also the Edison Surf Team Coach where he often has a surf competition in the morning and a football game in the afternoon. Coach Forgiarini enjoys surfing, kite surfing, wakeboarding and spending time with his family. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Joy, and has two beautiful daughters, Jadlyn 18 and Kylie 16.


Greg Brown
Defensive Linebackers

Coach Brown is in his seventh season with the freshman football program. In addition to coaching the freshmen, Coach Brown assists the Varsity program in the weight room. This will be Coach Brown’s third season as the Linebacker Coach.  Coach Brown does not sleep.

Coach Brown played for Dave White on the 1989 Charger team that won the Sunset League, and went on to the CIF semi-finals.  He then graduated from UCLA, and went on to earn his Masters from CSULB, and is a sergeant with 20 years on the Long Beach Police Department.

Coach Brown has been married to his beautiful wife, Katie, for 19 years.  Their daughter, Ryan, is a senior at Edison, who runs on the Cross Country and Track teams, and their son Jake is a member of the freshman football team.


Matt Koffler
Quarterbacks/Offensive Coordinator
Coach Koffler has been coaching for 18 years. He was the head varsity football coach for 12 years at Rosemead High School in the San Gabriel Valley. Prior to that, he was the offensive coordinator at the same high school . In 2001, he was awarded Coach of the Year by the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. Coach Koffler played quarterback at USC. He holds the longest touchdown pass in USC history. He was also a part of the 1996 Rose Bowl team. He has been married for 17 years to his wife Karen. They have 2 sons, Cole, 14 and Chase, 11. This is Coach Koffler’s first year assisting with the Freshman offense at Edison.


Ed Hwang
Offensive Line/Defensive Line
Coach Hwang began playing tackle football in middle school. He played at Los Amigos High from 1989 to 1993 where he was expertly instructed in the dark arts of offensive blocking. Coach Hwang played for one year at Golden West College and went on to play at Montana State University, Bozeman, home of the Fighting Bobcats. This is where his days as a player abruptly came to an unceremonious conclusion. Coach Hwang is married to his great wife, Jen and has an energetic little boy, Kyle. When Ed is not coaching or being a productive member of his family, he surfs and finds tremendous peace and serenity in the pursuit of fly fishing.


Paul Oates
Receivers/Defensive Backs
Coach Oates is 51 years young and grew up in the San Fernando Valley where he attended Alemany High. Coach Oates went on to play at Long Beach State. Paul has been married for 22 years and has three children, Danny, Troy and Lexi. Coach Oates lives and works locally at Century 21 Beachside and specializes in Huntington Beach Real Estate and Investment properties. Coach Oates is very excited and honored to be part of the Chargers family.


Joe Reza
Running Backs/Defensive Backs
Coach Reza is a high school teacher and coach. He has been married 28 years to his beautiful wife Eileen (also a high school teacher) and they have three children, Matthew age 26, Edison Class of 2009, and Cal Poly SLO class of 2014, Megan age 24 Edison class of 2011 and a senior at UC Riverside and Sharky, age 19 Edison class of 2015 and a freshman at OCC.  Coach Reza enjoys working with high school students. He says it keeps him young (or makes him old fast!). Coach Reza considers himself to be a very lucky dog to work with all the great Edison teachers, parents, fans, boosters, Varsity and JV football staff and Coach Forgiarini and his freshman football staff. Coach would like to thank and dedicate this season to his parents, Joseph Ernest Reza Sr. and Elsie Reza.
